In the new fashion district of Paris, the “Haut Marais”, in the well known “rue Charlot”, number 67, above the lively “rue de Bretagne”, “La Boutique Extraordinaire” is a place where you can find extraordinary or very simple garments, made of natural fibre, rare animal fibres, unusual fibres, unique cloths, textile works of art, mainly made in France.

Small lines of garments designed by young creative brands working with natural fibres and keen on colours, are lightly hang on their bamboo carriers. Silk, linen, cotton for summer, cashmere, mohair, alpaca, baby lama, extra-fine wool for winter, natural dyes, ethical and innovating projects, preservation of know-hows, “La Boutique Extraordinaire” is fighting against standardization, and putting forward colours and beautiful materials!

Exhibitions of textile artists leaving in Paris, are regularly renewing the window and enable passers-by to discover this still confidential form of art.

Textile jewellery, little Japanese towels in organic cotton, dyed with plants, pleated bags in biodegradable fibres, hand dyed linen or silk stoles.

True luxury in different price ranges – one can fall with a small budget, buy a marvellous cashmere sweater or leave with a unique work of art garment!

BIOGRAPHY OF AGNES BUTOR:

With art and sewing as her environment, travel as her school of life...
Agnes Butor’s passion for fibres, colours and materials was born when, aged 14, she was living in the United States and learned how to spin and dye wool. It continued to develop in France, where, aged 16, she learned to weave. Aged 17, she created and wove her own clothing designs, uniquely created for each wearer. At 18, she earned her living from this and orders piled up. At 20, she began travelling again - San Francisco, New York, Africa - but fashion and textile quickly found their way back into her life and, in 1986, she joined the Woolmark International Fashion Office and started a career which spanned over more than 23 years in this international organization for the promotion of wool, owner of the famous logo. In charge of the French bureau from 1998 to 2009, when it closed, she worked in almost all domains. Her expertise covers the areas of both wool, fashion and textiles.
She graduated from ESIAG (International School of Art and Management) in 1992, she is also a member of the AFET (French Association of Textile Studies).
Today, she has invested both her skill and passion in a lovely project "La Boutique Extraordinaire."
A place for introducing people to the wealth and diversity of natural materials, fibres and colours and a place for promoting the manufacturers, craftsmen and textile artists who are fighting to preserve and develop creativity and know-how.
